The alleged murderer of Yrelis Santana was arrested on the evening of Sunday, May 28, found lifeless in his apartment, body and face battered by the slashes of the blade of a knife.

The killer would be an Italian, owner of a farm near Cassino. The man was taken by surprise by the police inside his home.

Throughout the evening the police scoured the land near the house in search of the weapon used for the crime: the hypothesis is that it was buried in the fields. To lead the agents to the alleged murderer was one of the traces found in the apartment in Via Pascoli where the 34-year-old of Dominican origin lived.

The victim had arrived in Cassino about twenty days ago from Vercelli, where she lived with her husband and three children. On his mobile phone, the police would also have found the name of the blocked man. The world of prostitution is being investigated: dozens of people have been questioned, but for now no useful indications have emerged. No one would even hear any screams or noises coming from the apartment. An autopsy examination on the woman's body is now awaited.

To raise the alarm on May 27 was one of his neighbors, compatriot: "As I went down to go to the bar I noticed the door next to me but I thought that my neighbor had gone to the supermarket. Around 13.30 I came back because we agreed that I would check the gas line, the door was still pulled over, I knocked and opened asking if anyone was in the house. I saw blood on the floor at the entrance: I ran away and called the police." The body was lying on the bed, half-naked. He was entrusted to the external examination of the coroner who had to work hours to be able to determine the number and type of wounds: in total 12, inflicted with violence to the face and neck.
