Good news for our tourists stranded in
Guam. Ahead of schedule, Guam International Airport will resume operations tomorrow (29th). It is said that they are practically trapped in Guam among local tourists, and they are struggling to get the word "Guam Ok", but I hope they all return home safely.

I'm a credible journalist.

Guam International Airport, which was closed due to
Typhoon Mawar, will resume operations at 3 p.m. local time tomorrow, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.

Guam authorities initially said they would aim to reopen on the 30th, but the airport has returned to normal faster than expected.

It's been one week since it was closed due to typhoon damage on the 22nd.

Starting with Jeju Air arriving in Guam at 1 p.m. tomorrow, Korean Air is planning flights to 4 p.m.

The normalization of the airport has given a breather to the return of tourists stranded in Guam, but it will take some time for all of them to return home.

While Guam's authorities are working hard to restore electricity and water, the challenges remain for our tourists, who are scattered and isolated.

[Chu Jimin/Guam traveler: There is no air conditioning, so it's like this, and water and electricity go back and forth. [At other hotels, there is not enough water to flush the toilets, so they use the pool water to scoop it up.]

Even when they go to the grocery store in search of food, they have a hard time because they can't use their cards because of the power outage.

[Chu Jimin/Guam traveler: Unless you go early in the morning, there are no items in the grocery store. Even though I went, I couldn't pay by card in areas where communication was unstable. So I went to a few ATMs, but there was no money.]

The government has set up three temporary shelters in Guam for our tourists who are unable to return home.

In addition, a temporary clinic has been put into operation, and local travelers are informed that they can provide emergency medical care, as well as treat the chronically ill and prescribe medicine.
