The activities of the sixth edition of the Dual Theater Festival continued at the Cultural Center of Dibba Al-Hisn, organized by the Theater Department at the Department of Culture, and the event included, the day before yesterday, several activities, which received a public turnout.

The festival audience witnessed in the evening, the day before yesterday, the play «circus» of the Syrian National Theater troupe, which is prepared and directed by Ayman Zeidan, and the original text of the Argentine writer Oswaldo Dracón for the play «Stories to be told».

In the first part of the show, Zidane addressed through the paintings "Sunstroke" and "The Man Who Became a Dog", the story of a worker looking for a living, despite the high temperature, illness and toothache, otherwise he will die of hunger, and his wife will help him in his ordeal, but he dies looking for what feeds him and his family.

While the second panel reviewed the suffering of a person looking for work in order to feed his wife and children, and by chance his wife shows him a job advertised in the newspapers, so he applies to it, and is chosen for the position of night guard «guard dog», and in order to secure a living for his children, he agrees to submit to the orders of his master, and walks on his four limbs, and accepts to bark.

The festival audience also benefited from a training workshop in the manufacture and implementation of shadow fiction, supervised by Palestinian artist Fairouz Nastas.

As part of the festival's activities, the conference hall at the Dibba Al Hisn Cultural Center witnessed the launch of the 18th edition of the Sharjah Forum for Arab Theater, which came this year under the slogan "Theater and Music".

The forum's sessions, moderated by Abdullah Rashid (UAE), began with the intervention of Tunisian researcher Nofal Azara, entitled "Music, Poetry, Dance and Tragedy". Under the title "Theatre and Music... The Arab experience and its problems", came the intervention of the Egyptian researcher Rania Yahya, who focused on addressing the state of confusion in the concept of "musical theater", and its link to a number of other meanings that link the "father of arts" and music.

The third intervention was entitled "Arab Musical Theater... Its characteristics and influences on the forms of musical composition", presented by Tunisian researcher and critic Aicha Guellali.

Egyptian researcher and critic Yasmine Farrag traced in a paper entitled "Musical Theater in Egypt 1953-2023... Trends and Problems", the impact of political transformations in the march of musical theater, based on three prominent transformations from the early fifties to the year 2000.

Critical Vision

In the critical seminar that followed the circus show, moderated by Syrian critic Anwar Mohammed, the interventions praised the directorial approach and the performance of actors Hazem Ayman Zeidan and Lama Abdel Karim.

The director and producer of the play, Ayman Zeidan, praised the experience of the Dibba Al-Hisn Festival for Dual Theater, which allows Arab playwrights to meet, dialogue and do what they love, at a time when the world is witnessing many pressures.
