The mother of the 10-year-old girl, brutally abducted Thursday by her father before being found Friday, left for Denmark to find her daughter, said Saturday the Grenoble prosecutor's office, confirming information from BFMTV.
Contacted by AFP, Grenoble prosecutor Eric Vaillant was not able to say when the mother and daughter would return to France. On Friday, the France embassy in Copenhagen said it was on deck to "proceed with its repatriation in France as soon as possible".
Father and accomplice arrested
The girl was found Friday afternoon in Rodbyhavn, a town located a hundred kilometers south of Copenhagen in Denmark, which is a crossing point for ferries from Germany. According to Danish police, her captors, the girl's father and an accomplice, were arrested around 14:30 p.m. and the girl was able to be "brought to safety". On Friday night, Eric Vaillant had indicated that the girl was "as well as possible after such events".
The latter said Saturday that the handover of suspects to the French authorities could take "from a few days to several weeks". "This may vary, depending on the position of the defendants, if they agree to be handed over to the French authorities or if they decide to seek remedies in Denmark," he said.
A judicial investigation has been opened, in particular for aggravated violence against the child's mother and abduction by ascendant and complicity. Arrest warrants had been issued and issued under a European arrest warrant.
