• When fire and water fall in love, it makes sparks.
  • Adèle Exarchopoulos and Vincent Lacoste double the heroes of "Elementary", the new Pixar, a flame and a drop that try to live a beautiful love story.
  • The public will be able to hear them in the French version, which will be released in theaters on June 21.

At the Cannes Film Festival, where everyone is there to show off, Adèle Exarchopoulos and Vincent Lacoste are the exception. We do not see them in Elementaire, the new Pixar signed Peter Sohn, since they only lend their voices to the heroes of the film, a girl flame and a boy drop of water who fall in love with each other. At the risk of turning off or evaporating.

"It's very easy to be in Cannes with a film you're very proud of," says Vincent Lacoste. "It's too good. It's fun," says Adèle Exarchopoulos. The exercise was not easy for the duo whose characters try to make exist a love story that could be thought impossible.

A new experience

"We must forget the naturalness that we usually expect from acting in cinema. You have to stick to the character you have in your ears and eyes, explains Adèle Exarchopoulos. It's a whole other technique. Her flamboyant heroine required a lot of energy. The emotional hero that Vincent Lacoste doubles was also complicated to get people to talk. "It's hard at first," admits Vincent Lacoste, "because everything has to go through the voice. We must indeed forget the natural. You have to put a lot of energy into it. »

But why were they chosen? Because they look like heroes in real life? "These are images that we release from afar, according to our filmographies," explains Vincent Lacoste. His partner agrees. "I think it's a fantasy, like you're looking like the characters you've played in other movies," she says.

These two get along like thieves at a city fair but they will hear each other for the first time in the film at the screening this Saturday night in Cannes. "I can't wait to see the French version in full, because so far, we've only seen bits of it," admits Vincent Lacoste. In Cannes, the English version will be screened. Their French voices will only be in theaters from June 21.
