Chef Benoît Vidal's two-star restaurant has closed in Val d'Isère (Savoie), reveals the website L'Hôtellerie Restauration on May 19, 2023. The owner of the walls decided to sell the premises to developers, forcing Benoît Vidal to leave. "He always told me that one day I would be an owner, that he was giving me his word of Savoyard!" said the talented chef bitterly. That will not be the case.

"I took a hell of a slap"

According to our colleagues, Benoît Vidal was to buy in January 2023 the business of the gourmet restaurant. The owner would have undertaken orally to sell it to him. But in May 2023, he announced that he had sold the fund to promoters for nine million euros. "It's very painful when you invest for twelve years. I lose everything, because I have always paid myself close to daisies. I took a hell of a slap," testified the chef who warned the Michelin Guide.

The starred restaurant has welcomed its last customers but the brasserie should be open until the end of the summer, says France Bleu Pays de Savoie. Benoît Vidal is currently looking for a new restaurant in Savoie to settle "without any partner".
