Twelve people were brought before an investigating judge before an indictment as part of an investigation into a vast network of arms trafficking and money laundering between the Var, the Doubs and the region of Sartène in Corsica, led by the Jirs of Marseille. According to a press release from the Marseille prosecutor's office, five people were indicted on Thursday, including three placed in pre-trial detention, and seven other people were referred on Friday in this case.

Luxury weapons and watches

Investigators have been investigating numerous arms transactions between the mainland and Corsica since April 2022 and have arrested a total of 21 people in this case. During the searches, and in particular one carried out in Switzerland, the police discovered a large number of weapons, including two assault rifles, a submachine gun, 19 handguns and "thousands of ammunition", according to the Marseille prosecutor's office.

"Several luxury watches and 15,000 euros were also apprehended," adds the prosecutor. And to specify: "The discovery of many game tickets also highlighted a possible laundering circuit, the transactions of suspected weapons relating to several hundred thousand euros".
