Next week promises to be explosive in Plouguerneau in northern Finistère where six German bombs of the Second World War will be countermined offshore. Discovered by the group of clearance divers of the French Navy, these explosive devices of the Luft Marine Bom type weigh 812 kg each. The operation, which will run from 31 May to 3 June, will require the munitions to be moved before they explode.

Navigation prohibited within a 2.5-kilometre radius

As a safety measure and to prevent any risk of damage to people and property, the Maritime Prefecture of the Atlantic issued an order for the duration of the intervention. All navigation will thus be prohibited within a radius of 2.5 kilometres around explosive devices during the lifting and towing phases and 1.5 kilometres during the transport and countermining phases.

Swimming and water activities will also be prohibited within a radius of 4.1 kilometres. Finally, it will be impossible to walk on the coast from May 31 to June 2 in the municipalities of Plouguerneau and Guissény.
