Hollywood star Elliot Page ("Juno", "Inception") wants to see more people with trans identity in public next to her. "I think it's very important that we feel represented and see ourselves. I didn't have that as a kid," the 36-year-old, who came out as a trans person at the end of 2020, told People magazine.

The Canadian referred to problems that many trans people still face today: They are disproportionately unemployed and affected by homelessness and are disadvantaged in health care. "My experience as a trans person and this life I lead and the privilege I have don't correspond to the reality of most trans lives."

But he also had to go through difficult moments, reports the Canadian. "I feel like in a lot of ways I barely made it. But today I'm just myself and grateful that I'm here and living and taking one step at a time." On June 6, Page's memoir "Pageboy" will be published.
