Cardinal Giovanni Angelo Becciu returns to make himself heard, and with explosive words, at the end of the audience, held today in the Vatican, relating to the trial in which he is involved; trial relating to the sale of a property in London and the use of funds from the Secretariat of State (at the time when he was substitute for General Affairs): "I want to express my bitterness because the Court did not accept the requests of my lawyers, the possibility of having the so-called omitted chats in hand; because, as the lawyer Viglione pointed out, the defense remains mortified, it cannot fully exercise the right of defense if it does not have all the material".

The prelate, who resigned from the prerogatives of the cardinalate but kept the title, addressed journalists as follows: "It was asked to clarify this matter, the story of these three gentlemen: Mons. Perlasca, Mrs. Chaouqui and Mrs. Ciferri; They told themselves that they had plotted against me. It's a plot they did."

Becciu added that "this plot has led to the exploitation of the Pope. They used the Pope to carry out a vindictive plan against me. I do not understand why this is not clarified. The three are calm, free - said the cardinal, former prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints - I have been in this suffering for three years, under the nightmare of these accusations that are proving false".

For all these reasons, Becciu wanted to express "bitterness because there is no clarity on this matter, because it is an offense to the Holy Father himself - reiterated the cardinal originally from Pattada (Sassari). The Holy Father cannot be used to carry out such a malicious plan as revenge, which has been done against me. So I continue to maintain my confidence in the Tribunal and hope that the truth will come to the end. But not investigating this matter leaves me rather perplexed".
