About 500 euros per year for a consumption of 120 m3. This is what the average cost of water to a French household. But there are exceptions! This is the case of Bernadette Latour, who has just received an invoice of 7,288.27 euros, reports France 3 Grand-Est.

This resident of Bar-le-Duc (Meuse), 90 years old, refuses, since then, to pay this sum. In question, a leak in the duct that provides him with the precious resource. But where? Within 300 meters on his land? Or rather on the previous 500 meters belonging to the city and leading to the meter? That is the whole debate.

A situation resolved "as soon as possible"

The particular assures that the evil does not come from home. "We checked our 6 water hydrants, none of them leaking [...] Two leaks were detected. They are located on public property," explains his son Gilles.

For his part, the vice-president of the Meuse Grand Sud agglomeration Gérald Michel, ensures that the situation will be studied and settled "as soon as possible".
