The 10-year-old girl wounded with her parents outside the bar-ice cream parlor of Sant'Anastasia (Naples) by a barrage of bullets exploded by two young people, aged 19 and 17, both detained for attempted murder, is out of danger. The little girl had been hit by a bullet to a cheekbone: the doctors of the Santobono pediatric hospital had to undergo two surgeries yesterday, the prognosis for the little patient remains reserved but is not in danger of life. His parents' condition is not serious either.

According to the reconstruction of the investigators, the two young people would have reached the area of Piazza Ammiraglio Carlo Cattaneo on board a scooter and, on the move, would have exploded at least ten gunshots in the square where there are bars and ice cream parlors. The weapons used, a revolver and a machine gun, would first be "flaunted by the two young men with aggressive attitude" and then used, in a subsequent passage on board the scooter, firing towards the square. The identification of the author of the crime was possible thanks to the investigations of the military, who acquired footage from different cameras in the area and listened to several witnesses, activities carried out with the support of the investigative unit of Castello di Cisterna and with the participation of the public prosecutor. House searches were carried out during the night. The young man, at first absent from his home, then turned himself in to the carabinieri.

History

An entire family risked their lives after being involved, by chance, in a shooting that took place last night, Wednesday, May 24, in Sant'Anastasia, in the province of Naples. The two parents, together with their ten-year-old daughter, were sitting eating at tables outside a bar when they found themselves, in spite of themselves, in the path of the shots fired by two strangers against the business. At least a dozen bullets reached the three: the girl was hit in the head. The father, 43, was slightly injured in the hand and his wife, 35, in the abdomen.

Among the hypotheses behind what happened, that of a 'laying' following a quarrel between boys. The two criminals may have used a machine gun, with which they exploded at least ten shots, perhaps in the air, as reported by several people present in the square this morning. Hypothesis that could be true, given that at the moment there are no holes in the walls of the bar, where the family of Pollena Trocchia, was stationary, to support the hypothesis of shots at man height. Not far away some groups of boys would have argued. Pushing, shouting and then one of the groups would walk away.

The square, overlooked by some restaurants, is usually frequented by dozens of young people.

The mayor: "The municipal cameras captured the scene"

The municipal video surveillance cameras have immortalized the shooting, says the mayor Carmine Esposito, who stressed that he is available to the family victim of the shooting, and speaks of "important resurgence" of crime.

"Our video surveillance system has filmed the scene and the videos, together with those of the commercial activities in the area, have already been delivered to the carabinieri - said Esposito - it is atrocious to think that an innocent child and her family are involved in such an absurd story, it means that there is a social issue that must be addressed, because these characters are getting organized. If they were in possession of a machine gun and a gun, it means that they are organized and have relationships with criminal groups. And this worries us greatly. Without speculation we must be realistic: Sant'Anastasia was a fairly quiet village, we were no longer used to this type of episodes for 15 years now, since the police defeated the Camorra organizations of the territory. But now we are aware that here too, as elsewhere, there is an important resurgence to which we must all give a strong and energetic response".

Esposito, finally, announced that he wanted to send a letter to the prefect and the Minister of the Interior: "The administrations of the province of Naples and the police who daily try to guarantee security, often with few men and few means can not be left alone". In this regard, the mayor stressed that the Municipality has made available to the Carabinieri, who were evicted from the local station by the owner of the property, "a building that will be renovated at the expense of the municipal administration which has also offered, in the meantime, suitable premises".
