An event was held to examine the achievements and challenges of the discussions on nuclear disarmament at the G7 Hiroshima Summit, and it was announced that a new organization of atomic bomb survivors and young people would be established to further encourage the Japan government to join the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.

This event was held online on the evening of the 25th by the "NGO Liaison Committee Japan the Abolition of Nuclear Weapons," which is formed by A-bomb survivors' groups and NGOs.

In it, Mr. Yoshimi Tanaka, Representative Member of the Japan Hidankyo = Japan Council of Organizations for Atomic and Hydrogen Bomb Victims, said, "There was no progress just by confirming that we would rely on nuclear deterrence to maintain the NPT regime.

In addition, Mr. Tetsu Kawasaki, co-representative of the liaison committee and an international steering committee member of the ICAN = International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, said, "As public interest in Hiroshima, the site of the atomic bombing, increases at the summit, we must make it a major activity that changes the government's policy in order to eliminate nuclear weapons." Japan announced its intention to launch a new working organization to urge the government to join the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons by 2030.

A-bomb survivors, young people, and NGOs will join the organization, and preparations will be made for its launch next year.
