The facts go back a few weeks. Under construction on the Naval Group site in Lorient, the defense and intervention frigate Admiral Ronarc'h was the victim of sabotage, we learned from the group specializing in shipbuilding, confirming information from the Telegram.

According to the daily, several cables of the ship of the French Navy were voluntarily cut. "Following the discovery of malicious acts on one of our boats, we immediately filed a complaint," says Naval Group.

Enhanced surveillance at the Naval Group site

The Rennes prosecutor's office, which took over the case because of its military jurisdiction, opened an investigation for "destruction of property likely to harm the fundamental interests of the Nation." A crime punishable under article 411-9 of the Penal Code by fifteen years of criminal detention and a fine of 225,000 euros. The investigations will be conducted by the commanding general of the maritime gendarmerie.



After this act of sabotage, Naval Group reinforced vigilance measures at its Lorient site. The first of five new-generation frigates ordered by the State, the Admiral Ronarc'h was launched in November. Delivery is scheduled for 2024.
