A 22-year-old man was arrested near Quimper (Finistère) on May 9 for rape and sexual assault committed between 2019 and 2022. The majority of the events took place in the region of Compiègne (Oise). Seven victims, aged between 15 and 17 at the time, have been identified. A figure that could be revised upwards.

Wanted for two years

The suspect, with a clean criminal record, was indicted and placed in provisional detention on May 11 for "rape of a minor over 15 years old" and "sexual assault" and "aggravated violence", announced to the Parisian the prosecutor of the Republic of Senlis, Loïc Abrial. A judicial investigation has been opened. The unit for the fight against offences against persons (CLAP) of the gendarmerie of Compiègne is in charge of the investigation.

The gendarmes had been looking for the young man for two years, when a minor had reported to the gendarmerie brigade of Lacroix-Saint-Ouen to have been a victim of rape. A search warrant had been issued because the suspect, who was the subject of other rape charges, had left the Oise.
