The answer sheets of more than 600 people who were not
even graded for the National Qualification Examination were shredded by mistake by a public institution. There has been a backlash from examinees who have been forced to retake the test. The problem is that this isn't the first time this agency has made such a mistake.

Reporter Jeong Ban-seok interviewed it.

This is a text message received by 23 examinees who took the National Technical Qualification Examination at Yeonseo Middle School in Seoul on the 609rd of last month.

An employee mistakenly shredded an ungraded test answer sheet and is told to retake the test next month.

At the end of the test, the answer sheets in the bag were transported to the Seoul West Branch of the Industrial Manpower Corporation, but they were not transferred to a safe but to a general warehouse and shredded instead of delivered to the scoring center.

The officials at the scoring center didn't even notice that the answer sheet was missing, and the agency didn't find out about the accident until nearly a month after the test was taken.

[Ah so-bong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Korea Industrial Manpower Corporation: I bow my head and apologize for the damage caused to the test takers by neglecting the management of the qualification test. With a resolute determination to do whatever it takes to restore the trust of the qualification test....]

The agency has said that it will consider compensation such as waiving the exam fee and transportation expenses, but the examinees are angry.

I have already disposed of my examination papers, I am about to take the civil service exam next month, how will I prepare for the re-exam, the reaction is absurd.

The possibility of a class action lawsuit has even been raised.

Even if a lawsuit is filed, it will not be a quick remedy, as the examinees who failed the 2019 customs officer exam due to an error in the question will pass the exam only three years later.

Last year, 3 people were rejected and re-passed due to poor scoring in the industrial safety engineer exam, and the tax accountant qualification examination was also poorly scored, causing serious damage to the credibility of the national qualification exam.
