Astronomers from the University of Edinburgh in Britain have discovered a huge galaxy about 25 million light-years from Earth with the James Webb telescope.

Sky News quoted scientists as saying: The galaxy known as "GS9209" was formed about 600 to 800 million years after the Big Bang, and it is the oldest of its kind that has been discovered so far, pointing out that "GS9209" is the oldest known example of a galaxy that no longer forms stars, and is known as the "Quiet Galaxy."

Scientists have found that this galaxy has a similar number of stars to our Milky Way, despite being about 10 times smaller.

Dr. Adam Carnal, a scientist at the University of Edinburgh's School of Physics and Astronomy, explained that the space telescope showed that galaxies were forming more, and earlier than we expected during the first billion years of cosmic history, and we have now been able to reach the first detailed look at the characteristics of these galaxies, with a detailed graph of the history of their formation, where we see a very large black hole in this galaxy.
