Wuhan, May 5 (Reporter Liang Ting) Recently, on the streets of Wuhan, a large number of tourists, led by volunteers, began their journey to read the historical area of Hankou and feel the century-old style of the old Hankou.

Wuhan Jiang'an District is the area with the best preservation and concentration of existing cultural relics protected buildings and excellent historical buildings in the city, and it is also an important part of Hankou Historical Landscape District. There are not only 62 cultural relics buildings above the municipal level, 169 excellent historical buildings, but also 18 listed in the list of excellent historical buildings.

In 2017, Jiang'an District mobilized social forces to launch the "Reading Riverside" urban culture and historical buildings guide volunteer service project, and set up the "City Walk" urban culture and historical buildings guide youth volunteer team to explain the modern and modern commercial culture, folk culture and red culture of Lao Hankou in the context of old buildings.

Volunteer Qiu Minjie is an authentic "old Wuhan" and one of the initiators of the project. She introduced that the team members come from different industries and cross different ages, and because of their love for the city, they get together and use their weekends to become docents.

Qiu Minjie said that more than 100 people have recently signed up, and after assessment and training, more than 30 people will officially join the team.

Wuhan No. 16 Middle School, where Qiu Minjie works, is located in the old building complex, and the school offers an optional course "Red Building Guide", where Qiu Minjie takes students to visit the neighborhood and explain the historical stories behind it.

In her view, "walking and reading the riverbank" is not only a journey to explore the city, but also a sharing of feelings. In addition to standardizing the speeches, many volunteers explained their personal style, and they shared childhood memories and interesting childhood stories in the explanation, which attracted warm interaction among tourists.

"Post-80s" Geng Ting has been serving in the volunteer team for 4 years. Geng Ting travels through the city for work all year round, and she is deeply impressed by a characteristic building in Hankou, "walking" the city, allowing her to stop and hurry on weekends and feel the cultural heritage behind the century-old building. In her view, Wuhan not only has landmarks such as the Yellow Crane Tower and many century-old buildings, but also a business card worth sharing with the outside world. (End)
