This Monday, a patrol vehicle of the Interdepartmental Directorate of Atlantic Roads (DIRA) was hit while two officers were on board on the RN11 between Sainte-Soulle and Dompierre-sur-Mer, near La Rochelle. According to Sud Ouest, they were intervening to secure the scene after an accident involving a truck.

One of the two officers was killed in the shock of the collision while the second was transported to the University Hospital of Bordeaux, "in absolute emergency," said Transport Minister Clément Beaune in a tweet.
