In Itako City, Ibaraki Prefecture, where the "Suigo Itako Ayame Festival" began, a "bride-to-be" was held that reproduced the bride getting married on a boat, and tourists applauded in celebration.

In Itako City, which is known as a water town, until the Showa 30s, wedding ceremonies in white were held in which brides in white sails went to the groom in a rowboat.

The "Bride Boat" has been held for about 40 years as one of the events of the "Suigo Itako Ayame Festival", and the bride on the boat is a person who has recently married or is planning to get married.

On the 21st, the boat carrying the bride departed at 11 a.m. and sailed slowly along the river, where many tourists applauded in celebration.

Then, when I arrived at the dock, I walked with the groom to the venue of the iris festival, and tourists took pictures of the situation.

Marina Uchida, the bride on the bride's boat, said, "I was nervous, but everyone was celebrating, so I was able to finish with a happy feeling."

In addition, the groom, Masato Uchida, is from Itako City, and said, "My love for my hometown to cherish the history and traditions of my hometown has increased even more."

The bride-to-be-be boat will be held on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays during the Ayame Festival until June 6.
