A love-mad couple has caused a permanent red light in Erfurt. As the police in the Thuringian capital announced, the car of the two had been standing in the middle of the road for a long time with fogged windows. When police officers went to check on the situation, they discovered the couple having sexual intercourse.
Both stated that they had "no longer been able to hold back their desire for each other" because the traffic light was broken and no longer wanted to switch. The couple was "visibly embarrassed," it said.
According to the police, the long red phase was explained by the fact that the driver of the car had driven too far forward and was therefore not detected by the demand-controlled traffic light.
The two were allowed to continue driving after paying a fine.
