Member of the Egyptian House of Representatives: Mohamed Ramadan must be punished and provoked as he provokes people

Amal Abdel Hamid, a member of the Planning and Budget Committee in the Egyptian House of Representatives, stressed the need for the regulatory bodies and the Tax Authority to review the funds received by the artist Mohamed Ramadan for his works.

She called for the inclusion of the money he receives under the top bracket in taxes.

This came against the backdrop of the controversy that he sparked after he posted on his Facebook account several photos of his private plane upon his return from the United States, with packages of dollars next to him.

She continued during a telephone intervention to the program "Hazrat Al-Citizen" on the satellite "Al-Hadath Al-Youm" yesterday evening: "What is happening is a terrible provocation to the citizen, he must be held accountable for the amounts he receives for his actions, in a way that provokes him as he provokes people, and the exploitation of taxes for the benefit of the poor Egyptian citizen."

She added: "He earns 65 million for a Ramadan series, and people do not eat, and puts packages of dollars next to him while the country desperately needs these dollars, and we do not know how to enter our goods in the ports because of the inability to provide dollars in Egypt, I do not know why he receives all these amounts!"

She stressed the need to ration the income rates of high-wage earners, wondering about the role it plays in community participation and assistance to ordinary people, commenting: "We do not see any community participation from people who earn millions."
