Why did Joo Won-yi have to make such an extreme choice?

SBS' "I Want to Know" (hereinafter referred to as "GR"), which was broadcast on the 20th, highlighted the story of a girl who made an extreme choice due to school violence with the subtitle "The Truth in 6,300 Messages - The Case of Park Joo-won's Death."

In April, the shocking news broke. The appeal was dropped because a lawyer did not appear at the appeal trial of a student who made an extreme choice due to school violence.

In May 2015, Ms. Park Joo-won, a first-year high school student who was struggling with school violence, made an extreme choice, and her family filed a lawsuit for damages against the perpetrators and the school board, starting a long, drawn-out battle.

After seven years of waiting, the case was partially ruled in their favor last year, and the family appealed against the perpetrators, who were not held accountable, and tried to fight a long battle again. However, at the center of such an important battle, the lawyer who was supposed to stand on behalf of the family did not attend the appeal trial three times in a row, and the appeal was dropped, and in the process, the case was partially defeated in the first trial.

In particular, the lawyer did not inform the bereaved families that the appeal had been dropped, and only when the bereaved family asked about the progress of the recent appeal did he reveal a shocking fact.

The lawyer who shocked everyone was lawyer Kwon Kyung-ae, who drew attention as a co-author of the so-called "Black Book of the Fatherland." He said this happened due to health issues, personal schedules, and the departure of an employee he worked with, but he continued to post political commentary on social media even when he failed to appear for the appeal hearing.

Lawyer Kwon Kyung-ae explained that Joo Won-yang's case weighed him down and led him to this situation, but the bereaved family members can't believe why he did what happened.

In 2012, Joo Won, who was highly impressionable, was bullied by a classmate when she was in the first grade of Girls' Middle A. Whenever her cell phone data was running out, she often sent messages to her boyfriend on Joo Won's mobile phone. He later said that his boyfriend contacted Miss Joo Won separately and did not like it, so he posted a sniper post on social media and criticized Miss Joo Won, saying that Miss Joo Won had taken her boyfriend away.

In addition, Miss Joo Won, who was struggling with strange rumors spreading at school, was invited to a mysterious chat room and had to suffer cyber terrorism.

After that, Miss Ju Won was even physically assaulted, and it became more and more painful day by day. However, the school bombing did not take place, and finally Ms. Joo Won escaped the perpetrators and transferred to a school in Ganghwa Province.

Miss Joo Won happily spent the rest of her time in Ganghwa Province, but her longing for her family grew, and she returned to her family when she entered high school.

Miss Joo Won, who transferred to B Girls' High School in Gangnam in 2015, and Miss Joo Won, who thought she would be fine now, did not have a smooth school life. It was rumored at Miss Joo Won's school that Miss Joo Won was the protagonist of the abuse in the past, and the subtle bullying began.

Accordingly, the homeroom teacher instructed them to sit on the bus according to the attendance number, as suggested by Miss Joo Won, but the classmates wanted to sit with their close children, and in the end, Miss Joo Won went on a school trip with the seat next to her empty.

Nevertheless, Miss Joo Won did not go to school for a week because she was having a hard time after the school trip, and she made an extreme choice on Sunday night, a day before going to school.

And in the school bombing at the girls' high school that Ms. Joo Won attended, it was concluded that school violence did not exist.

In this situation, the family has been fighting a lonely and long battle for eight years, considering every little thing as a valuable clue. And after achieving meaningful results, they expected even greater results, but everything was destroyed by the unbelievable behavior of the lawyer in charge.

By analyzing the 6,300 messages left on Ms. Joo's mobile phone, as well as her own poems and diaries, they traced what kind of time Ms. Joo Won spent before her death.

And through the interview, we confirmed that most of the people who cyberattacked Ms. Joo Won were people who did not even have a face-to-face relationship with Ms. Joo. In addition, it was shocking to learn that the person who led the cyber attack was not Im Seo-ra, who had a conflict with Joo Won, but Mr. Kim, who attended the same elementary school as Joo Won, and that he had been unhappy with Joo Won Yang when he was in elementary school.

In addition, Girls' High School A and Girls' High School B still maintained their position that there was no school violence in the death of Miss Joo-won, which caused regret.

In addition, the broadcast heard directly from Im Seo-ra's stance. He was not punished in any way. He said that when he was in high school, when he and Joo Won Yang reunited at a stationery store, he never uttered any profanity. And he said, "What I did after posting was really a thoughtless act, but I think what Joo Won did to me before that was too much. And I don't know if I think I'm a little bad about myself, but I don't sympathize with the fact that I made it so hard for him."

The expert said, "No victim in this world can live with Moon Dong. As a result, many victims felt more helpless and overwhelmed. I couldn't do that, I can't do that, and then I'm going to have to live here forever. That's why society needs to step up and help the victims of the massacre. If such an atmosphere or the system is not changed, the victims will continue to be resentful, hard, and endure alone, and they will be hurt again," he said, pointing out that society must change.
