A 62-year-old man was taken care of by firefighters Thursday morning after a serious accident during a microlight flight. Around 9 am, the craft crashed, shortly after the take-off phase, at the Frazier ULM base in Héric (Loire-Atlantique), north of Nantes, report the firefighters. The pilot was seriously injured and was hospitalized at Nantes University Hospital. The gendarmerie has opened an investigation to understand what may have happened.

Last Sunday, another accident had already occurred at the same ULM base of Héric. The aircraft had landed heavily on the ground due to a strong wind. A 49-year-old man was injured.

Serious ULM accidents are far from rare in France. On April 16, a septuagenarian was killed in the Meuse during a crash. On February 18, a man in his fifties also died during a microlight flight in New Caledonia. Another fatal accident occurred on December 31 in the Puy-de-Dôme.
