We do not play with fire in the Hérault. "Due to the current drought conditions and in view of the latest weather forecasts", the prefect of Hérault, Hugues Moutouh, has decided to extend until June 15 the ban on the use of fire in areas covered with vegetation. This exceptional measure had already been in force since 17 April. Beyond June 15, the summer ban on the use of fire, which is enacted each year, will take over, until September 30.

This measure, which aims to strengthen fire prevention, concerns "all land covered with forests, woods, plantations, moors, scrubland and maquis and up to 200 meters from these spaces," detail the services of the State. Professionals, farmers and foresters are also subject to this regulation.

The prefect of Hérault indicates that he has asked his services "to mobilize to monitor and repress any malicious firing". In the event of fire, even unintentional, fines of up to 150,000 euros can be imposed, as well as prison sentences and the payment of heavy damages.
