Johnny Depp speaks at the press conference for the presentation of "Jeanne du Barry", the film by director French Maïwenn that opened Cannes 2023 and tells the true story of Madame du Barry, the courtesan who became the favorite of Louis XV. The tempting opportunity to have so many journalists in front of him also becomes the opportunity for the actor to remove some pebbles from his shoe, in light of the recent trial that saw him against his ex-wife, Amber Heard. Asked if he feels boycotted in America, given the social campaign against him, promoted by Heard's supporters, under the hashtag #CannesYouNot, Depp replies: "Well, no, yes ... but I don't think about Hollywood anymore."

Yes: step by step the Hollywood star, fresh from signing the highest contract ever for a men's perfume (over 20 million dollars with Dior), consumes his revenge. First the lawsuit won against Amber Heard (later found guilty of defamation), then concerts and new sets and now Cannes with a 7-minute standing ovation and a crowd bath for him.

But Depp downplays it and says it's not correct to talk about a return, because "he didn't go anywhere." Because after all, as he said in "The Pirate of the Caribbean": "It's Captain Jack Sparrow, if you allow!"
