A child less than half the size of a
stretcher is brought to the hospital.

A 7-month-old girl who weighed only 31 kilograms, half the weight of other children her age, died 20 minutes after being taken to the hospital due to malnutrition and a brain hemorrhage.

The girl's brother, a 17-month-old boy, was also found inside the house in a state of deteriorating health due to not being able to eat properly.

[Ulsan Child Abuse Officer (March last year): (Both children) are a little smaller than their peers, they are a little bit delayed in development, and (the boys) were taken over by their maternal grandparents.]

It was due to the habitual neglect and abuse of the children's guardians, Mr. A, a biological mother in her 3s, and Mr. B, a stepfather.

Two people who did not give their children proper food and water for as little as 20 hours to as long as 5 hours for 2 months.

In particular, the prosecution's investigation revealed that the girl, who was hungry, was found to have collapsed after eating dog food and did not take appropriate measures to provide aid.

The first and second trials determined that they had conspired to murder the child and sentenced them to 25 years in prison.

"It is hard to imagine the pain and horror that the victim must have felt, and she did not restrain the other person from committing the abandonment," the court said.

The two appealed against the verdict, but the Supreme Court found the original verdict justified and upheld the sentence of 1 years in prison.
