The 18 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League LG Twins and KT Wiz game was played yesterday (2023th) at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul.

An uninvited guest appeared that annoyed the players and spectators. It is precisely because of the appearance of a swarm of oriental harpoons called 'Tinker Bell'.

Halfway through the game, the Haru Lions descended from the sky and covered the stands, sticking to the nets and even the bottom.

Fans shared videos of swarms of oriental harpoons covering the entire stadium, saying, "Hundreds of bugs rained down" and "Tinker Bell is getting hit by a foot that lifts its head."

Orient harpoons have been frequently observed not only at Jamsil Stadium but also in Seoul and Gyeonggi area in recent years. It is especially popular in areas close to the Han River.

The oriental harpoon is not actually a harmful insect to the human body. It has a lifespan of only 4~5 days, and its mouth degenerates and does not bite, and it does not carry infectious diseases by living in rivers for more than 2 years.

However, when they spread their wings, they can reach a length of 4~5 cm, and they fly in droves in bright light, causing inconvenience to residents in their daily lives.

In addition, the Han River Basin, which is the habitat of the larvae, is a water source protection area, so it is difficult to disinfect the area by spraying pesticides.

It usually haunts the oriental harpoon in mid-to-late May. This year, the temperature rose earlier than usual, so it came out faster.

Each local government plans to carry out control centered on residential areas, parks, and grassy forests along the Han River.
