A female nursing officer in the army is reportedly under investigation by military authorities for allegedly leaving her duty station to see Jin, a member of the group BTS, who is serving in the military.
On the 19th, Beta News quoted an informant as saying that Lieutenant A, a nursing officer in his 20s in a certain army unit, visited the 1th Division Recruit Training Corps, where Jin was on duty, for about two hours from about 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in mid-January, administered the second vaccination against epidemic hemorrhagic fever, and returned to the unit.
Lieutenant A reportedly approached Jin using his personal friendship with the visiting unit's nursing officer. Lieutenant A was also reported to have said after returning to his unit, "BTS' Jin was very sick."
Leaving the duty station without prior notification to the superior is punishable by imprisonment or imprisonment for up to one year in accordance with Article 2 (unauthorized departure) of the Military Criminal Code. Lieutenant A is also suspected of leaking a large amount of Tylenol to a recruit training camp.
An investigation into the incident was initiated after a complaint came in from within the military. A military official said, "Some of the allegations have been confirmed through the inspection, and some of the facts are denied by the person concerned," adding, "The legal department is conducting an investigation (following the gendarmerie investigation), and according to the results, we will deal with and discipline them in accordance with laws and regulations."
