Under the title "Digital Transformation in Dentistry", the Faculty of Dentistry at Damascus University organized a scientific day that included presentations on the latest digital technologies used in the field of dentistry, and their role in improving the medical and therapeutic service provided to patients.

The participants, including researchers and specialists on the main auditorium in the college, discussed a number of axes and research on digital transformation in fixed prostheses, the basics of the intraoral scanner, the options of prosthetic materials used and the options of prints, the extent to which digital transformation helps the dentist in daily practice, three-dimensional printing in oral and maxillofacial surgery, digital implants, the future of dental implant practice, and a number of laboratory tips to invest in new prosthetic technologies and materials.

In statements to SANA, Dr. Khaldoun Darwish, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at Damascus University, stated that this day comes within the framework of the faculty's plan to hold scientific activities and lectures that highlight the latest technological science in dentistry, explaining the importance of digital transformation in the field of dentistry in order to raise the efficiency of the implementation of dental procedures better and dispense with mechanical tools, whether in diagnostic or prosthetic treatments.

Dr. Darwish pointed out that the digital transformation in the field of dentistry is part of the digital transformation at all stages of life as dentistry is a delicate profession full of details and equipment and concerned with the rapid developments in digital transformation.

In turn, Dr. Shatha Qunoot, Head of the Department of Fixed Prosthesis at the Faculty of Dentistry at Damascus University, stressed the importance of such scientific activities to introduce the advantages of digital transformation and the use of artificial intelligence in dentistry and the efforts made by the faculty to enter the digital world, and spread digital culture among dental students in the undergraduate and postgraduate stages, especially after the opening of the digital dental laboratory in the college recently, which has become a major role in the speed of work and accuracy, in addition to the designs it offers. Dr. Muhammad Louay Murad, Professor of Fixed Prosthesis at the Faculty of Dentistry at Damascus University and Al-Manara University in Lattakia, gave a presentation in which he explained the difference between the traditional and digital dental printing, which is characterized by shortening time, accuracy, ease of work, providing greater comfort for the patient, in addition to ensuring that no deformities occur later.

For his part, Hossam El-Din Al-Tabbaa, the scientific expert of the Digital Portal Company for the World of Dentistry in Syria, which created the digital laboratory at the Faculty of Dentistry, indicated the importance of the laboratory in encouraging and motivating students to achieve their ambitions and exert more efforts to reach the stage of achievement and creativity, indicating that the goal of the scientific day is to reach the largest possible number of those interested in the digital field in dentistry, including students, graduates, doctors and laboratories, and introduce them to the laboratory as a training center that can be benefited from, especially graduate students.

In his lecture, Al-Tabbaa gave a set of laboratory tips to invest in new technologies and prosthetic materials, stressing the importance of keeping pace with scientific development and technology in order for our students to learn about the latest technologies in a way that qualifies them and helps them enter the labor market directly.

It is noteworthy that the digital laboratory at the Faculty of Dentistry at Damascus University was opened on the fifteenth of last March at a cost of more than one billion Syrian pounds as the first digital laboratory for dentistry at the level of public universities.
