The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Dr. Faisal Mekdad, affirmed Syria's welcome to any Arab role that achieves the goals of joint action to face the challenges of the next stage, pointing out that the draft resolutions presented during the preparatory meetings for the Arab summit reflect Syria's point of view to overcome the crisis in it, and respect its role at the regional and international levels.
Mekdad said in a press statement today after the meeting of Arab foreign ministers preparatory to the work of the Arab summit scheduled in the Saudi city of Jeddah next Friday: We are working together with our Arab brothers, and all Arabs welcome the role of Syria and there are no differences on issues related to it, and are comfortable with the atmosphere of the preparatory meetings, where we discussed many issues because the situation between Arab countries and the regional and international situation needs such a discussion to reach decisions that serve joint action and Arab solidarity, to face the challenges of the next stage.
Mekdad pointed out that the draft resolutions presented during the meetings reflect Syria's point of view to overcome the crisis and respect its role at the regional and international levels, reiterating Syria's welcome to any Arab role that achieves the goals of joint action.
Mekdad added: "We are grateful that all Arab countries are present at this summit, and this is an achievement for the role played by Saudi Arabia, which we thank for its successful preparation for the summit and for facilitating all deliberations in order to come up with Arab positions that reflect a unified will to face the challenges of the future."
On reconstruction and the return of refugees and the possibility of an Arab role in this regard, Mekdad said: We look forward to the Arab role being effective in helping Syrian refugees return to their country, and there is no doubt that the reconstruction process will facilitate this return, and we welcome any role that Arab countries will play in this field.
Mekdad continued: As usual, Syria cannot be absent from any summit. Syria exists.
