Logos Hope arrives in Abu Dhabi to coincide with the Book Fair

With a library of 5,70 titles and crew from about 18 nationalities, the Logos Hope, the world's largest floating book fair, landed at Zayed Port in Abu Dhabi, after visiting Ras Al Khaimah and Dubai, to receive visitors from May 4 to June 2023, <>, coinciding with the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair.

The crew expressed their pleasure to be in Abu Dhabi and connect with its residents, who represent a wide diversity of cultures and nationalities. Sebastian Monkay, captain of the ship, pointed out that in Abu Dhabi and the UAE in general, when a person visits a shopping center, he can meet people from 200 nationalities, pointing out his admiration for the saying of the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul: "I have nothing precious for the homeland, I am ready to give everything I have for this people and for the homeland", as this phrase expresses a deep love for the homeland and a willingness to sacrifice for it.

The President of the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center, Dr. Ali bin Tamim, pointed out that the floating "Logos Hope" exhibition constitutes a qualitative addition that enriches the schedule of Abu Dhabi's cultural events, and supports its initiatives aimed at consolidating the culture of reading, and allowing all segments of our society to easily access books and knowledge resources, in line with the strategic objectives of the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center, especially as it coincides with the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, which is being held its 32nd session this year under the title "Endless Stories", pointing out that The UAE is a unique model for the convergence of experiences, the coexistence of cultures and the resumption of civilization.

Logos Hope is a beautiful story that roams the seas on a journey of knowledge loaded with thought, knowledge and imagination.

Volunteers from different nationalities and disciplines also spoke during the opening, who decided to join the ship's team to learn about the cultures of peoples and exchange experiences with nationalities from all over the world.

The Logos Hope exhibition features more than 5,<> titles in many fields, such as sports, science, arts, medicine, languages and dictionaries, in addition to workshops, discussion sessions, interactive and musical performances. The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre is participating in the exhibition with a distinctive cultural program targeting members of the community and all school students, including educational workshops for children and creative workshops.

During the exhibition, the Center organizes a workshop entitled "Reading Children's Stories", presented by Dr. Fatima Al Mazrouei, an Arabic calligraphy workshop with Saeed Al Ameri, which includes a section on writing names in Arabic, a discussion session for one of the selected books with members of the reading club, in addition to a workshop on the history of musical literature, presented by Iman Al Hashemi.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, Mohammed Khalifa Al Mubarak, the Undersecretary of the Department, Saud Al Hosani, and the Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre, Dr. Ali bin Tamim.

One million visitors annually

The Logos Hope receives about one million visitors annually and since its inception in 2009 has visited more than 150 countries around the world, with 49 million visitors and a crew of approximately 70 nationalities. The ship's teams travel to the surrounding areas to visit hospitals and schools, and provide assistance and community care, as part of its commitment to serving the port communities.
