From racketeers to blackmailers. On Wednesday, the Property Crimes Unit of the National Police of the Left Bank of Toulouse arrested eight young people between 14 and 18 years old as part of an investigation into several phone thefts committed under threat.

The events took place between March 15 and May 12 until the police were able to identify the various suspects of the events that occurred between the Pink City and Tournefeuille.

Five suspects referred

The victims, all minors, had been robbed under threat, and sometimes violently, by the same group of young people, including two pairs of brothers. But these thefts also made a collateral victim: a young girl, also a minor, would have received threats of blackmail from the thieves. Indeed, one of them would have consulted one of the mobile phones and would have found nude photos of the girl. Fortunately, the suspects, arrested in time, did not have the opportunity to carry out their threats.

Of the eight suspects, five were referred for concealment, violence or blackmail, two were released while the last will be summoned Monday, May 24.
