In connection with an incident in which more than 1,250 pet carcasses, including dogs and cats, were found in a house in Yangpyeong County, Gyeonggi, a pile of animal breeders were arrested for selling pets to the house for "disposal" purposes.

The Gyeonggi Yangpyeong Police Station announced today (50th) that it has detained 32 animal breeders, including Mr. A in his 17s, on suspicion of violating the Animal Protection Act and sent them to the prosecutor's office.

Mr. A and others are accused of killing 1 to 20 elderly dogs with poor reproductive abilities for the past year or so by selling them to Mr. B, a processor in his 30s, who is a processor in Yangpyeong, for 60,1 won each.

Mr. B was arrested and sentenced to three years in prison for neglecting more than 1,250 pets he had bought in this way, causing them to die, and then leaving them in various places in his house, including rubber barrels and water tanks.

Mr. A, who runs an animal breeding business in Gyeonggi-do, Incheon, and Gangwon, met at nine pet auction houses in the metropolitan area and shared information with each other, and it was found that he learned information about Mr. B, a processor by saying, "There is a place that treats elderly dogs at a low price."

Then, when the number of elderly pets accumulated, he contacted Mr. B to collect 3 to 9 pets at a time, and Mr. B loaded a pile of animal carriers containing several animals at the same time into his 20t freezer truck.

Police believe that most of the pets in the airtight reefer van suffocated within three to four hours of being transported to Mr. B's home in Yangpyeong and died before they arrived.

Despite the presence of more than 30,1 pets, nearby residents barely heard barking, presumably because they had already taken in dead animals and abandoned them.

Most of the pets sold were small dogs, and most of them were said to be extremely thin because they had not been properly nourished before they were sold.

In addition, seven of the animal breeders who were caught were found to be operating without a license.

It was also confirmed that one of the arrests, Mr. C, had performed illegal vocal cord surgery on his dogs in an unconventional manner even though he did not have a veterinary license, and the other two had asked Mr. C to perform illegal surgery on their dogs.

The police analyzed the mobile phone call records of Mr. B, who was arrested earlier, for more than one year and six months, and examined the number of the animal breeder among the more than 3,4 call records and arrested them.

Mr. A and others reportedly denied some of the allegations during the police investigation, saying, "It is true that the elderly dogs were sent to Mr. B, but they did not expect them to die immediately."

A police official said, "It seems that they handed over the pet to Mr. B knowing that they would kill it in order to dispose of it at a low price due to old age, etc.," and "We will work with the administrative office to prevent a recurrence."
