A vehicle driving through downtown Seoul
late at night.

Suddenly, a passenger in the back seat starts hurling profanities at the valet driver.

[Perpetrator passenger: Hey! It's XX! Where are you going! XX is real. Where are you going?]

Then, suddenly, he starts assaulting the driver from behind.

[Perpetrator passenger: You come here. (What are you doing?) You're this XX. Before you throw it away.]

It is in front of a park in Mapo-gu, Seoul.

We picked up a drunk passenger here and started driving, and it wasn't long before the swearing and verbal abuse began.

They even try to get behind the wheel of a moving vehicle, creating a dizzying situation.

[Perpetrator passenger: Hit me once. Huh? Hey! Hit me. Hit me! (What are you doing!)]

It happened on a section of about 10 kilometers from Mapo-gu, Seoul, to Seodaemun-gu, and most of the route was an inner loop where vehicles traveled fast.

The driver, who is in his 40s, says he had to endure verbal abuse and assault for nearly 20 minutes to avoid an accident while driving.

Police sent the passenger to the prosecutor's office on suspicion of assaulting the driver under the Aggravated Punishment for Certain Crimes Act.

Assault on a driver under the "Special Pricing Act" is punishable by up to five years in prison or a fine of up to 5 million won, which is much heavier than a common assault case.

Yet, over the past five years, the number of driver assaults has increased by 2.5 times.
