What happened? How is his state of health evolving? What legal consequences? 20 Minutes takes stock of this case.

What happened?

Accompanied by his aunt, a 4-year-old boy goes to the famous funfair. Both decide to test the Crazy Fabrik attraction, a merry-go-round with a fun course. But the young child stumbles on one of the facility's treadmills. When it falls, the mechanism of the merry-go-round does not stop and the hand of the little victim is grabbed.

"He's dragged to the end of the mat and it's instantaneous: he's swallowed by the machine and he's screaming, he's screaming. We see immediately that there is something very serious, "says his aunt at the microphone of BFM TV. The latter, who quickly rescued her nephew, ensures that no member of the staff, in a state of shock, reacted.

One of the fingers, as well as the little boy's arteries and nerves were severed. First aid was provided by a plainclothes firefighter before he was taken to hospital.

How does the state of health of the young victim evolve?

To keep his finger, the victim had to undergo an autotransplant. But he is not out of the woods, since he risks amputation of the hand. About 50 minutes after the accident, the victim was taken to hospital by the civil protection services.

What legal follow-up to the case?

After the accident, the family filed a complaint for unintentional injury. An investigation is opened, entrusted to the police station of the 12th arrondissement of Paris. According to the organizers' information, nothing abnormal had been noted by the safety commission, which had gone to check the installation only a few days before the accident. The ride also meets European safety standards. "This is a dramatic accident. The fairgrounds are very sad for the child and his family, "responded the representatives of the Foire du Trône, contacted by Le Parisien.

Last year, after human error, six people were injured when two merry-go-round cars collided. Also at the Foire du Trône during the 2022 edition, a fairground died, hit by a roller coaster basket.
