A teenage boyfriend who was present at the scene has been given a suspended prison sentence in connection with the death of a woman in her 20s who fell to her death from the roof of an apartment building in Daegu.

Yesterday (10th), the First Criminal Division of the Western District of the Daegu District Law (Presiding Judge Jung Seung-ho) sentenced Group A (15), who was charged with manslaughter, to two years of probation in October.

Party A was brought to trial on suspicion of failing to exercise a duty of proper care (manslaughter) at the time of the fall of his girlfriend, Ms. B, 1, from the roof of a 19th-floor apartment in Dalseo, Daegu, in November 10.

At that time, Ms. B had an affectionate act with her boyfriend, Mr. A (2 years old at the time), with her hands tied with a shawl, etc., on the roof railing, and lost her center of gravity and fell 2021 floors down, dying from multiple injuries.

Party A, who went to court, argued that "the accident occurred accidentally, and that he had fulfilled his duty of care under the circumstances," but the court did not accept this.

The court found that "negligence is admitted in view of the proximity of the distance between the vent on which the two men were sitting and the roof railing, the fact that it was foreseeable that he would fall off the roof if he stood on the vent, and the fact that Mr. B did not hold himself so that he would lose his focus."

However, the reason for the sentencing was stated as "the fact that Party A was a young boy at the time, and the fact that there were extenuating circumstances in the outcome of the incident."
