A 45-year-old man was arrested in Sorgues (Vaucluse) on Friday afternoon. He is suspected of having tried to make a homemade bomb at home, according to information from La Provence. In recent weeks, he had bought all the equipment needed to make an explosive device on the Internet.

Several homes evacuated

Friday, about fifty police and gendarmes went to the site. A canine team from Salon-de-Provence was also mobilized. The police cordoned off the neighborhood of the forty-year-old under the pretext of a gas leak.

The intervention lasted nearly two hours, from 15 p.m. to 17 p.m. Homes were evacuated to prevent a possible explosion. After being arrested, the suspect was interviewed by investigators from the research brigade. Searches were also conducted at his home.
