Marvel Studios' Gardens of the Galaxy Volume 3 maintained its North American box office lead for the second week in a row, generating $60.5 million in revenue, according to Exit Relation.

The film, which has grossed half a billion dollars in global revenue, revolves around an intergalactic mercenary group and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel.

Last week, Guardians of the Galaxy snatched the lead from "The Super Mario Brothers Movie," which this week held second place with $13 million domestically, with total global revenues exceeding $1.2 billion.

Third in the ranking was Focus Fisher's Book Club: The Next Chapter, a sequel to a romantic work that has been strongly accepted by older groups.

The film grossed $6.5 million in its first weekend. David A. Gross, an analyst at Franchise Entertainment Research, described the finding as a "slow start" to work, but acknowledged that "older audiences take time before they make such films."

The film, which follows four friends on a journey of older girls to Italy, features Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen and Mary Steenburgen, all in their seventies or eighties.

Fourth in the ranking was Warner Bros.'s "Evil Dead Rise," grossing $3.7 million. Lily Sullivan and Alyssa Sutherland star in the roles of two sisters fighting a group of demonic creatures.

In fifth place, also down one place from last week, was Lines Gate's comedy-drama film RU There's God? It's Me Margaret, which deals with adolescence, based on one of the books of novelist Judy Bloom. The film grossed $2.5 million.
