Satellite images show the massive cyclone spinning over the Bay of Bengal before hitting the two South Asian nations.

The port city of Sittwe, capital of the Burmese state of Rakhine, was hit in full where several neighborhoods ended up under water.

About 400,000 people were evacuated to Myanmar and Bangladesh before the arrival of Cyclone Mocha, one of the strongest storms to hit the region in recent years.

Partially spared the vulnerable settlements of Cox's Bazar in Bangladesh, where more than a million Rohingya refugees live.

Communication networks in Rakhine according to UN agencies and local media.

Figures from OCHA, the United Nations Office for Humanitarian Affairs, say that in Rakhine State and the north-west of the country about 6 million people were already in need of humanitarian assistance, while 1.2 million are displaced following the humanitarian crisis following the military repression in Myanmar in 2017.
