• A new scam with false PV has been reported by the gendarmes of Seine-et-Marne.
  • Scammers imitate a notice of contravention with a QR code that they then place directly on the vehicles.
  • The QR code links to a copy of the website of the National Agency for Automated Processing of Offences.

Level up! In the series the crooks have talent, a new scam to the false PV was reported for the first time by the gendarmes of Seine-et-Marne. One among others? No, because it is so well crafted that the most suspicious of motorists is likely to be fooled. Explanations.

Recently, thousands of French people have received SMS on their mobile phones in the name of Antai (National Agency for Automated Processing of Offenses) instructing them to pay a ticket by following a link included in the message. A scam, of course, which had a major flaw since it was based on a file of mobile phone numbers, some of whose owners did not have a driver's license. This time is different. Scammers place fake "parking violations" notices directly on the windshields of parked vehicles that perfectly imitate the real ones.

An almost perfect copy of the Antai site

If scammers get wet more than by sending simple SMS, their chances of success are nevertheless much higher. Especially since the butterfly is perfectly written, without spelling mistakes, and that it includes a QR code supposed to allow the offender to pay online. This QR code links to a copy of the official website of Antai, almost better built than the real one. To the eye, the only difference is the web address which ends in "gouv-fr.fr" instead of ".gouv.fr" for the original. Simply enter your licence plate number to find out the offence you are accused of. In fact, it works with any fancy number. There, you are asked to pay 35 euros for "non-compliance with parking rules" and you are asked to fill in your personal data and then enter your credit card information. Obviously, by entering anything, it works too. Once the payment is made, we thank you before redirecting you to the real site of Antai.

All online scams, here

The process is so credible that the gendarmes insist on the right measures to follow if you have to pay a fine. A single site, not that of Antai, even the real one, but the site "amendes.gouv.fr". It is on this site that you can scan the QR code of the PV. If it is a real PV, it will be necessary to pay, in case of fake, the scan will not work. However, if not particularly vigilant, the best is to pay for your parking.
