A man doused his wife, who was separated from him, with hot oil in the Bavarian town of Regenstauf and injured her life-threateningly. The 30-year-old suffered severe burns on Friday and was flown by helicopter to a special clinic, as the police in Regensburg reported on Monday. In the meantime, she is out of danger.

Both the husband and the two children of the former couple suffered minor injuries. They were treated as outpatients in a hospital. The criminal investigation department is investigating the 32-year-old on suspicion of attempted murder. He was arrested and is in custody.

The suspect had initially stated that he had stumbled with a pot full of hot cooking oil and had accidentally poured the oil over the woman. The two children, who were in the immediate vicinity of their mother, were also injured.

In the course of the investigation, however, according to the police, there were indications of a deliberate act. Therefore, the man was arrested. An investigating judge issued a pre-trial detention warrant at the weekend, among other things, on suspicion of attempted murder and serious bodily harm. The victim was therefore not yet able to be questioned on Monday.
