A man was caught stealing fuel from a transport company in Créteil (Val-de-Marne) on the night of Friday to Saturday. Spotted by the police around 1 a.m., he immediately fled. But officials managed to catch up with him, reports TF1info.

Three screwdriver strokes

The suspect knocked one of them down and violently assaulted him. He gave him "three screwdriver blows to the chest," according to a police source quoted by our colleagues. Fortunately, the officer was wearing a bulletproof vest. "Only a blow to his arm caused a scrape," the source added.

The man was arrested and placed in police custody for attempted homicide of a person holding public authority. Ten 20-liter canisters, filled with gasoline, were found by investigators in the company's premises. They also discovered eight other canisters that were empty.
