Mahmood brought to the Eurovision Song Contest a revisited version of John Lennon's classic Imagine. A challenge that the Liverpool Arena welcomed in total silence and then exploded in a roar in the finale. An intense, respectful, original interpretation.

The artist, in his third Eurovision appearance after representing Italy at Tel Aviv 2019 coming second with Soldi in Turin last year together with Blanco with a sixth place thanks to Brividi, is the first Italian to be invited as a guest out of competition in an edition abroad.

Mahmood, with his characteristic way of singing, accompanied by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, opened a choral performance called The Liverpool Songbook, during which some artists who have been protagonists in past editions have retraced the history of the city's music.
