Jordanian security convinces a young man to back down from suicide, so his mother goes up to the bridge instead of him

A Jordanian woman threatened to throw herself from the top of Abdoun Bridge, in the center of the capital, Amman, demanding the release of her son, who was arrested by the governor of the capital against the background of his threat to throw himself from the same place.

A Jordanian security source revealed that the woman is the mother of a young man who threatened on Friday to throw himself from the top of the bridge, demanding a job.

The source indicated that the General Security men negotiated with her to convince her to refrain from throwing herself, adding that she was taken to the security center in preparation for taking legal action against her, as Jordanian law stipulates the punishment of those who attempt to commit suicide.

The governor of the capital decided Friday to arrest the son of this lady when he threatened to throw himself from the top of the same bridge, in preparation for referring him to the prosecutor.

In the details, according to Jordanian media, the young man (29 years old), who suffers from unemployment, had demanded the presence of the Minister of Labor to find a job for him, before the security services were able to convince him to refrain from throwing himself after negotiating with him for 3 hours, and he was arrested, to be referred to the judiciary later.

It is noteworthy that 400 people have committed suicide from the top of the bridge in question since its construction in December 2006, and its height is about 45 meters above the lowest point in the valley.
