American actor Jamie Foxx, an Oscar-winner, has been discharged from the hospital and is recovering from "medical complications", as announced by his daughter and his agent the day before yesterday.

The 55-year-old star was taken last month to a hospital in the southern US state of Georgia, where he was filming a movie for Netflix.

Since then, no details have been disclosed about the representative's medical condition, leading some to speculate that his condition is deteriorating. But his daughter, Corinne Fox, was keen to dispel those rumors in an Instagram post on Monday.

She expressed dismay at media speculation, saying "my father was discharged weeks ago, recovering and even playing pickle ball yesterday," a popular sport in the United States that combines badminton, table tennis and tennis.

Jamie Foxx's agent confirmed the information to AFP, without providing further details.

During his career, Jamie Foxx won numerous awards, notably an Oscar in 2004 for his remarkable performance as Ray Charles, a soul legend, in the biographical film Ray.

He was nominated for the Oscar for his role in Collateral the same year, and most recently he portrayed the character of a free-yearning slave in Quentin Tarantino's Western film Django Unchain.

On April 12, Corinne Fox wrote on Instagram that her father "suffered medical complications," but that "fortunately, with immediate intervention and good care, he is recovering."

The same actor wrote on Instagram last week that he "appreciates all the love" he has received.
