She refused to marry him. A student slaughters his colleague in front of the door of the University of Basra

Similar to the tragic story experienced by the Egyptian girl, Naira Ashraf, a young Iraqi man tried on Thursday morning to kill his colleague in front of the door of the University of Basra, because of her refusal to marry him.
The fugitive defendant, D.A., a resident of Karbala, seriously stabbed the student, Zainab Karim Da'im, with a knife in the neck and back.

The victim remains in the city's teaching hospital in a very critical condition.

For its part, the Iraqi Women's Rights Organization said in a tweet on Twitter: This crime is a tax paid by women who refuse to marry a psychopath "a tax for me who refuses to psychopath psychopath," adding that it coincides with crimes of its kind that occurred in Jordan and Egypt, "This is a series of crimes committed against women in conjunction with the criminals in Egypt and Jordan, Abu al-Jealousy comes to complete his way in this criminal image."

It is noteworthy that cases of domestic violence in Iraq are increasing alarmingly and steadily, and the majority of victims are women and children.

The incident sparked widespread anger on social media, amid calls for the most severe punishments to be imposed on the perpetrator to serve as an example to others.
