"We still miss you." The hope of little Madeleine's parents has not weakened. Sixteen years of hope and anguish after Maddie McCann disappeared in Portugal, they launch a message on social networks. This Friday would have marked the twenty years of the little girl whose disappearance has still not been explained.

"Happy birthday Madeleine. Still gone. We still miss you very much. We are always looking. As long as it is necessary, "it is written on this message posted on the official Facebook and YouTube accounts dedicated to the disappearance of the girl. "We love you and we are waiting for you. We will never give up," added his relatives who gathered on May 3 for a vigil to commemorate his disappearance.

A face that has been around the world

The message is accompanied by a video calling on the public to help find the girl. Madeleine McCann, known as Maddie, disappeared on May 3, 2007 shortly before her fourth birthday in the seaside resort of Praia da Luz in southern Portugal. Her disappearance sparked an exceptional international campaign to try to find her. Photos of the girl, with her light brown hair squared have gone around the world.

Last month, the German judiciary cancelled proceedings related to other cases against the main suspect in this case, the German Christian B., with the profile of a repeat rapist who is serving a prison sentence in Germany for rape. His defence believes that on the basis of this decision, the prosecutor's office in northern Germany in charge of the Maddie case should be removed but the latter has assured to continue to investigate.
