An operation launched to rescue Rosa, a 6-year-old black and white cat, caused extensive damage to a building in Perpignan (Pyrénées-Orientales). It all started when the animal's mistress noticed his absence on May 5, says France Bleu Roussillon. After three days, a resident of the adjoining building warned that meows were heard behind a wall.

The feline had fallen into an unused chimney flue. Firefighters repeatedly explored the area using a thermal imaging camera. Four days after his fall, the cat was still alive. The police then requested the cooperation of several neighbors. In apartments spread over four floors, the walls were partially destroyed by mass. Rosa, frightened, could not be recovered.

The gaping holes, however, allowed kibble and water to be thrown at him. On Tuesday, a camera slipped behind a power outlet made it possible to locate the cat. A last hole was made to free the heavily emaciated animal, whose mistress indicated that she would reimburse the damage. "There is no problem! A hole is filled while a life cannot be replaced, "commented a neighbor.
