An investigation for attempted homicide was opened by the prosecutor's office of Vienna (Isère) after the assault with a weapon of two Bulgarian seasonal workers in Jarcieu, this Thursday. A 38-year-old man was picking strawberries in a field with his 62-year-old father when they were attacked by a motorist, reports Le Dauphiné Libéré.

A bullet in the thigh

The assailant, who had stopped his vehicle at their height, hit the thirty-year-old with a handgun on the head and shot his father in the thigh after the latter tried to intervene to defend him. The gunman fled in the aftermath. The two victims were then transported to the hospital by emergency services alerted by witnesses to the scene.

Gendarmes went to the scene to conduct the first investigations and discovered a 9 mm holster. They will now focus on using CCTV footage to try to identify the suspect's vehicle.
